At Redifarms, we believe that we can create a more sustainable, healthier future by encouraging people to eat more plants. Our top tip for better health is simple…eat more veggies. You don’t have to be vegan to celebrate World Vegan Day. The message is clear, eating more plants is good for your body, your health, and your planet. World Vegan Day is a chance to be mindful about adding more vegetables to your diet, even if it’s just for the day! Why not give it a try? That is why we are celebrating World Vegan Day on November 1st by connecting with vegans who share the benefits of a plant-based lifestyle!
Jamie Logan, social media sensation and US Campaign Manager at Generation Vegan says, “The reason I am vegan is because it is the single biggest thing we can do at an individual level to do better for the animals, the planet, and our health.” Jamie continues, “Going vegan was a step and action that allowed me to align my morals and my actions.”
As reported by the Food and Agriculture Organization (associated with the United Nations), 26% of the planet’s ice-free land is used for livestock grazing, and over 1/3 of croplands are used for animal feed production. The United Nations has also stated that the animal agriculture industry is responsible for more greenhouse gas emissions than transportation vehicles. By going vegan, you can also save up to 1000 gallons of water daily. Clean Water Action published that 17 trillion gallons of water are used to produce meat products annually.
Not only is maintaining a vegan lifestyle the best thing for the animals and the planet, but it is also one of the most beneficial things you can do for your own health. Marisa Sweeney MS RDN (Registered Dietitian Nutritionist) and Founder/CEO of the NJ VegFest explained, “There is a large body of scientific research that supports a plant-based diet preventing heart disease, cancer, and even slowing down the aging process.”
By going vegan you can help multiple causes whether you decide to make the connection for the animals, the environment, or your health. We hope we can inspire you to be a better, more sustainable version of yourself. Happy World Vegan Day!
